अतीते तु पुरा कल्पे यथेयं वर्ततेऽनघ । अस्यान्त्यस्य च कल्पस्य व्यवस्थां कथय प्रभो । एवमुक्तः सभामध्ये मार्कण्डो वाक्यमब्रवीत्
atīte tu purā kalpe yatheyaṃ vartate'nagha | asyāntyasya ca kalpasya vyavasthāṃ kathaya prabho | evamuktaḥ sabhāmadhye mārkaṇḍo vākyamabravīt
হে নিষ্পাপ! অতীতের প্রাচীন কল্পে যেমন ছিল এবং যেমন এখন আছে, তেমনি এই অন্তিম কল্পেরও বিধান ও ব্যবস্থা বলুন, প্রভু। এভাবে সম্বোধিত হয়ে সভামধ্যে মার্কণ্ডেয় এই বাক্য বললেন।
