Suta Goswami (traditional Purāṇic colophon framing the narration to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Sthala Purana: Colophon (iti… adhyāyaḥ): a textual closure naming the section (brahmāṇḍa-kathana) and chapter topic (pātāla-loka-varṇana). No sthala-purāṇa content.
Significance: Liturgical use: marks pāṭha completion; in some traditions, colophon recitation is treated as saṅkalpa-siddhi/adhyāya-phala closure.
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter; spiritually, it frames cosmology as part of Śiva’s ordered governance of the universe (Pati), reminding the reader that all realms—higher and lower—remain within His lordship.
Though it is not a ritual instruction, the Uma Saṃhitā’s cosmological narration supports Saguna Śiva devotion by presenting the universe as structured under Śiva’s sovereignty—encouraging Linga-worship as alignment with the cosmic Lord who pervades all lokas.
No specific rite is prescribed in this colophon; a suitable takeaway is to conclude study with remembrance of Śiva—mentally repeating the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” as a closing practice.
