Sanatkumara
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
It shows the devas, including Viṣṇu and Brahmā, acknowledging Mahēśa as Parātmā (the Supreme Self) and responding with obedient assent—an image of surrender (śaraṇāgati) to Pati, Lord Śiva, who guides all beings.
Calling Śiva “Mahēśa” and “Parātmā” supports Shaiva understanding that the worshipped Lord—whether approached as the Liṅga (iconic focus) or as Saguna Mahādeva in narrative—remains the same supreme reality worthy of universal reverence.
The practical takeaway is inner assent and alignment of will with Śiva’s command: cultivate śaraṇāgati through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and mindful obedience to dharma, echoing the devas’ “tathā iti” (“so be it”).
