Menā’s Lament and Reproach
to the Sage
brahmovāca | ityukte ca tadā tatra vacane menayā haṭhān | uvāca vacanaṃ ramyaṃ pārvatī svayamāgatā
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It highlights Pārvatī’s steady, sattvic composure: even when confronted by forceful opposition, the devotee of Śiva responds with restraint and clarity, showing firmness without harshness—an ideal Shaiva temperament.
Pārvatī’s direct appearance and ‘pleasing speech’ reflects devotion to Saguna Śiva expressed through personal relationship and resolve; such bhakti matures into disciplined worship (including Linga-upāsanā) guided by calm discernment rather than agitation.
The takeaway is inner discipline (śānti) in devotion—maintain japa of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with a steady mind, responding to obstacles without anger, as part of daily Shaiva sādhanā.
