देव्याः क्रोधः शक्तिनिर्माणं च
Devī’s Wrath and the Manifestation of the Śaktis
सर्वेषां चैव देवानां कटिर्भग्ना यदा तदा । शिवा क्रोधमयी साक्षाद्गंतुं न पुर उत्सहेत्
sarveṣāṃ caiva devānāṃ kaṭirbhagnā yadā tadā | śivā krodhamayī sākṣādgaṃtuṃ na pura utsahet
যখনই সকল দেবতার কটি ভেঙে গেল, তখন ক্রোধময়ী সাক্ষাৎ শিবা নগরের দিকে অগ্রসর হতে দিলেন না; কেউই এগোতে সাহস পেল না।
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating the Kumārakhaṇḍa account to the sages, describing the devas’ condition and Śivā’s wrathful presence)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shakti Form: Durgā
Role: destructive
It underscores that even the devas can be rendered powerless; when ego and strength are broken, only Śiva-Śakti’s will prevails—prompting humility and surrender (śaraṇāgati) to the Supreme.
The verse highlights Saguna manifestation—Śivā appearing ‘sākṣāt’ in a wrathful protective mode. In Linga-worship, the devotee approaches Śiva with reverence, recognizing that divine grace (anugraha) alone grants passage through obstacles.
Adopt humility and protection-invocation through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and reverent Śiva-Śakti smaraṇa; if following Shiva Purana practice, combine with Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as reminders of restraint and surrender.
