Sukta 4.7

Rishi: Vāmadeva Gautama (traditional attribution for RV 4.7)
Devata: Agni (as dūta/hotṛ; inner divine Will and knower of the paths)
Chandas: Tr̥ṣṭubh (probable for RV 4.7; needs metrical verification at pada level)

तं शश्वतीषु मातृषु वन आ वीतमश्रितम् । चित्रं सन्तं गुहा हितं सुवेदं कूचिदर्थिनम् ॥

táṃ śaśvátīṣu mātṛ́ṣu vána ā́ vītám aśrítam | citráṃ sántam gúhā hitáṃ su-védaṃ kūcíd-arthínam ||

তাঁকেই আমরা শাশ্বত মাতৃগণের মধ্যে, প্রকৃতির বন-বিস্তারেই, নিকটে গিয়ে অন্বেষণ করি—যিনি অন্তরে প্রবেশ করে আসন গ্রহণ করেছেন। বিস্ময়ময় সত্তা, গুহায় নিহিত; তিনি সু-বিদেয় (সুপ্রজ্ঞেয়), কিন্তু তাঁকে পায় সেই-ই যে সত্যিই অর্থী-আকাঙ্ক্ষী।
