Mahāpārśva’s Counsel and Rāvaṇa’s Confession of Brahmā’s Curse
अद्यप्रभृतियामन्याबलान्नारींगमिष्यसि ।तदातेशतधामूर्धाफलिष्यतिनसंशयः ।।।।
adya prabhṛti yām anyāṃ balān nārīṃ gamiṣyasi |
tadā te śatadhā mūrdhā phaliṣyati na saṃśayaḥ ||
আজ থেকে তুমি যদি অন্য কোনো নারীকে বলপূর্বক গমন করো, তবে তোমার মস্তক শতধা বিদীর্ণ হবে, এতে কোনো সন্দেহ নেই।
"Thus, frightened on account of his curse, I do not perforce to get her to my lustrous bed."
Dharma protects bodily autonomy and condemns coercion: violence against women is met with immediate, divinely enforced consequence.
Brahmā issues a punitive constraint on Rāvaṇa, specifically targeting his tendency to pursue women forcibly.
The virtue upheld is respect and non-violence (ahiṃsā) toward women; the verse also underscores divine guardianship of dharma.
