Vasiṣṭha’s Hospitality to Viśvāmitra and the Summoning of Śabalā/Kāmadhenu
कच्चित्ते सम्भृता भृत्या: कच्चित्तिष्ठन्ति शासने।कच्चित्ते विजितास्सर्वे रिपवो रिपुसूदन ।।।।
kaccit te sambhṛtā bhṛtyāḥ kaccit tiṣṭhanti śāsane | kaccit te vijitāḥ sarve ripavo ripusūdana ||
তোমার ভৃত্যরা কি যথাযথভাবে প্রতিপালিত, এবং তারা কি তোমার শাসনে অনুগত থাকে? হে রিপুসূদন, তুমি কি তোমার সকল শত্রুকে বশে এনেছ?
Are your servants provided well with their requirements? Do they abide by your command? O Destroyer of foes! have all your enemies been conquered ?
Rajadharma: a ruler must ensure the welfare of dependents (servants) and maintain disciplined administration, while also protecting the realm from enemies.
Vasiṣṭha is inquiring about King Daśaratha’s statecraft—how he maintains his staff, enforces his commands, and secures the kingdom.
