Commencement and Performance of Daśaratha’s Aśvamedha

प्राप्ते यूपोच्छ्रये तस्मिन्षड्बैल्वा: खादिरास्तथा।तावन्तो बिल्वसहिता: पर्णिनश्च तथापरे।।1.14.20।।श्लेष्मातकमयस्त्वेको देवदारुमयस्तथा।द्वावेव विहितौ तत्र बाहुव्यस्तपरिग्रहौ।।1.14.21।।

prāpte yūpocchraye tasmin ṣaḍbailvāḥ khādirās tathā |

tāvanto bilvasahitāḥ parṇinaś ca tathāpare ||

śleṣmātakamayas tv eko devadārumayas tathā |

dvāv eva vihitau tatra bāhuvyastaparigrahau ||

যূপ স্থাপনের সময় এলে ছয়টি বিল্বকাঠের এবং তদ্রূপ ছয়টি খাদিরকাঠের যূপ স্থাপন করা হল। তত সংখ্যক আরও যূপ বিল্বসহ রাখা হল, এবং কিছু ছিল পর্ণি-কাঠের। একটি ছিল শ্লেষ্মাতক-কাঠের, আর দুটি দেবদারু-কাঠের; সেখানে দুই প্রসারিত বাহুর মাপে ব্যবধান রেখে সেগুলি স্থাপিত হল।
