FAQs

It functions as a sign of something unnatural or portent-like, prompting inquiry and movement in the story—here, it becomes a clue that leads the visitor onward after hearing an explanation.

Khāttataḥ (lit. “sky-goer”) is used here to mean a bird; the verse says the visitor heard the bird’s words and then came to the speaker’s house.

The verse highlights attentive listening and responsiveness to guidance, and it also frames the scene in terms of proper reception—arriving at a house where the host recognizes and addresses the guest respectfully.
