FAQs

It presents the Supreme Lord as both the protector and the transcendental Self: He neutralizes all hostile forces (weapons) while remaining the highest refuge (śaraṇya) and ultimate reality (paramātman).

Bhakti here is expressed as śaraṇāgati—taking the Lord as one’s sole shelter—praising His supremacy (para) and worship-worthiness (vareṇya) through a stotra-style salutation.

The verse mainly functions as a stotra (devotional liturgy) rather than a Vedanga lesson; its practical takeaway is mantra-oriented worship—using precise epithets to focus the mind and invoke protection.
