Mohinī-Saṃmohana
The Enchantment of Mohinī
एवं जानाम्यहं दोषं कथं वत्स्यामि मंदरे । गमिष्यामि त्वया सार्द्धमीशस्त्वं सुखदुःखयोः ॥ २० ॥
evaṃ jānāmyahaṃ doṣaṃ kathaṃ vatsyāmi maṃdare | gamiṣyāmi tvayā sārddhamīśastvaṃ sukhaduḥkhayoḥ || 20 ||
এভাবে আমি নিজের দোষ বুঝেছি—তবে মন্দরে কীভাবে থাকি? আমি আপনার সঙ্গেই যাব; কারণ সুখ-দুঃখের অধীশ্বর আপনি।
A devotee/companion addressing the Lord (Īśa) within the Adhyaya’s narrative frame (Uttara-bhāga Tīrtha-Māhātmya dialogue tradition).
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: karuna
It highlights self-recognition of doṣa (inner fault) and the turning-point of śaraṇāgati—choosing to follow the Lord who presides over all experiences, including pleasure and pain.
Bhakti here is expressed as humble confession and dependence: the speaker stops trusting their own comfort (“how can I stay here?”) and opts for companionship with the Lord, accepting His governance over sukha and duḥkha.
No specific Vedāṅga (like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa) is taught directly; the practical takeaway is ethical discipline (dharma) and karma-phala awareness—enduring dualities while aligning one’s actions and mind toward īśvara.
