Narada Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 143

Mokṣopāya: Bhakti-rooted Jñāna and the Aṣṭāṅga Yoga of Viṣṇu-Meditation

सुषुत्पिवत्परानन्दयुक्तश्चोपरतेन्द्रियः । निर्वातदीपवत्संस्थः समाधिरभिधीयते ॥ ४३ ॥

suṣutpivatparānandayuktaścoparatendriyaḥ | nirvātadīpavatsaṃsthaḥ samādhirabhidhīyate || 43 ||

যখন সাধক গভীর নিদ্রার ন্যায় হয়েও পরমানন্দে যুক্ত থাকে, ইন্দ্রিয়সমূহ নিবৃত্ত হয় এবং চিত্ত নির্বাত প্রদীপের মতো স্থির থাকে—তখন সেই অবস্থাই ‘সমাধি’ নামে কথিত।
