Nārada’s Hymn to Viṣṇu
Nāradasya Viṣṇu-stavaḥ
yathākathañcidyannāmni kīrtite vā śrute'pi vā | pāpinastu viśuddhāḥ syuḥ śuddhā mokṣamavāpnuyuḥ || 49 ||
Sanatkumara (teaching Narada)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It declares the extraordinary purifying potency of the Lord’s Name: even accidental chanting or mere hearing removes sin and leads the purified toward moksha.
It centers bhakti on nāma—kīrtana (chanting) and śravaṇa (hearing)—showing that devotion through the Name itself becomes a direct purifier and liberating practice.
The verse emphasizes practice over technicality: correct ritual detail is not the focus; rather, nāma-śravaṇa and nāma-kīrtana are presented as accessible disciplines within dharma leading to inner purification.
