Suta (in the Anukramanika-style narration within Book 1.4)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It affirms that devotion to different deities (Śiva, Viṣṇu, Devī, Sūrya, Gaṇapati) can coexist with orthodox dharma, emphasizing that sectarian worship is framed within varṇa-āśrama discipline for the dvija communities.
By listing multiple devatā-upāsanā streams together, the verse presents bhakti as a broad religious landscape in which distinct traditions are recognized, while still being aligned to dharmic conduct and social-religious duties.
Indirectly, it points to smārta/vaidika observance tied to varṇa-āśrama—where ritual performance and right conduct typically rely on kalpa (ritual procedure) and vyākaraṇa (correct recitation/usage) as supporting disciplines.
