Adhyaya 29 — Alarka’s Inquiry and Madalasa’s Teaching on Householder Dharma (Gārhasthya), Vaiśvadeva, and Atithi Hospitality
सीदता यद् कृतं तेन तत् पापं स समश्नुते । सायं चैव विधिः कार्यः सूर्यॊढं तत्र चातिथिम् ॥
sīdatā yad kṛtaṃ tena tat pāpaṃ sa samaśnute | sāyaṃ caiva vidhiḥ kāryaḥ sūryoḍhaṃ tatra cātithim ||
দুঃখে পতিত ব্যক্তির প্রতি যে কোনো অন্যায় করা হয়, অবহেলাকারী সেই পাপের অংশীদার হয়। আর সন্ধ্যায় বিধিমতো কর্ম করা উচিত; সূর্যাস্তে আগত অতিথির সেবা করতে হবে।

Neglect of the vulnerable is not neutral; it generates culpability. Hospitality is time-sensitive in dharma literature—an atithi arriving at day’s end must be received rather than deferred.
