Kṛṣṇa’s Conciliatory Address to Karṇa
धैर्यवान् और जितेन्द्रिय ब्राह्मण जिनके सहायक हैं, उन उग्र तपस्वी वीर पाण्डवको तुम कैसे जीत सकोगे? ।।
dhairyavān ca jitendriya-brāhmaṇā yeṣāṁ sahāyakāḥ, tān ugrān tapasvino vīrān pāṇḍavān tvaṁ kathaṁ jeṣyasi? punar uktaṁ ca vakṣyāmi yat kāryaṁ bhūtim icchatā—suhṛdā majjamāneṣu suhṛtsu vyasanārṇave; yathā pūrvam uktam api, tathāpi tad ahaṁ punaḥ vakṣyāmi.
যাদের সহায় ধৈর্যবান ও ইন্দ্রিয়সংযমী ব্রাহ্মণগণ, সেই তপস্যায় উগ্র, বীর পাণ্ডবদের তুমি কীভাবে জয় করবে? তবু আমি আবার বলছি—যে প্রকৃত মঙ্গল কামনা করে তার করণীয় কী: যখন বহু প্রিয় সুহৃদ্ বিপদের সমুদ্রে ডুবে যাচ্ছে, তখন কল্যাণকামী বন্ধুর কর্তব্য হলো সেই মুহূর্তে যা বলা প্রয়োজন, তাই বলা। আগে বলা হয়েছে, তবু আমি পুনরায় বলছি।
