अन्न पानं च माल्यं च वासांस्याभरणानि च । ब्राह्मण्यैतानि देयानि भर्तु: सा हि गरीयसी

Transliteration

anna-pānaṃ ca mālyaṃ ca vāsāṃsy ābharaṇāni ca | brāhmaṇyaitāni deyāni bhartuḥ sā hi garīyasī ||

Translation

ভীষ্ম বললেন—অন্ন-পান, মালা, বস্ত্র ও অলংকার—এসবই স্বামীর কাছে ব্রাহ্মণীই নিবেদন করবে; কারণ এই কর্তব্যে সে-ই সকল নারীর মধ্যে অধিক সম্মানযোগ্য।
