Adhyāya 142: Cyavana, the Devas’ Arrogance, and Vāyu’s Counsel on Protecting Brāhmaṇas
महान् यशस्वी राजर्षि सहस्नचित्य ब्राह्मणके लिये अपने प्यारे प्राणोंकी बलि देकर श्रेष्ठ लोकोंमें गये हैं ।।
bhīṣma uvāca | sarvakāmaiḥ samāpūrṇaṃ dattvā veśma hiraṇmayam | maudgalyāya gataḥ svargaṃ śatadyumno mahīpatiḥ ||
ভীষ্ম বললেন—মহীপতি শতদ্যুম্ন ব্রাহ্মণ মৌদ্গল্যকে সকল কামনায় পরিপূর্ণ স্বর্ণময় গৃহ দান করে স্বর্গ লাভ করেছিলেন। এই প্রসঙ্গ শিক্ষা দেয়—যোগ্য পাত্রকে নিঃস্বার্থ ও সম্পূর্ণ দান রাজধর্ম; তাতে শ্রেষ্ঠ লোকপ্রাপ্তি হয়।
