Related Themes: Agni Purana 272 (Raghuvamsha genealogy segment)
This verse transmits vamśāvalī-vidyā (dynastic/genealogical knowledge): a precise succession list in the Sūryavaṃśa culminating in Raghu.
By preserving structured royal genealogies (names, order of descent, and epithets), it functions as a historical-chronological index alongside the text’s ritual, legal, and technical chapters.
Reciting and remembering righteous lineages is treated in Purāṇic culture as smṛti-puṇya: it strengthens dharmic memory, legitimizes kingship ideals, and links devotion to exemplary ancestors.
