Lord Agni (teaching the sage Vasiṣṭha in the Agni Purana’s encyclopedic instruction style)

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Śrī-Lakṣmī sādhana: central karṇikā worship on siṃhāsana, directional name-linking (dik-krama), correct accenting, and protective encirclement with mantra-charged kumbhas.","sutra_style":false}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Śrī-Lakṣmī āvaraṇa-pūjā with siṃhāsana-karṇikā and eight mantra-kumbhas","lookup_keywords":["Śrī-Lakṣmī sādhana","karṇikā","siṃhāsana","agneya-nairṛta","aṣṭa-kumbha"],"quick_summary":"Worship Lakṣmī at the yantra’s center with gandha etc., connect the āvaraṇa by directional naming from Agneya to Nairṛta with proper svara, then seal the rite by surrounding with eight kumbhas empowered by 100 mantra-japas each."}

Concept: Śrī is approached through ordered center-periphery worship: bind the deity in the heart of the maṇḍala, then stabilize the field with directionality, sound-accent, and consecrated vessels.

Application: In Lakṣmī pūjā/yantra practice: keep the center worship primary, maintain correct pronunciation/accents, and use kumbhas as protective/energizing perimeter supports.

Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi / Tantric-ritual manual (Śrī-Lakṣmī–sādhana, mantra-nyāsa and āvaraṇa-pūjā)

Primary Rasa: śṛṅgāra

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A lotus-yantra with a central pericarp where Lakṣmī is worshipped on a lion-seat; offerings of perfume, flowers, lamps; eight kumbhas arranged in a ring, each marked as mantra-charged; directional markers from southeast to southwest.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural: Lakṣmī in the central lotus-karṇikā on a stylized siṃha-seat, priests offering gandha and flowers, eight kumbhas around with sacred threads and mango leaves, directional deities hinted at corners, bold flat colors and ornate border","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore: Lakṣmī richly ornamented seated on siṃhāsana within a gold-lotus center, heavy gold leaf on jewelry and halo, eight decorated kumbhas encircling, deep maroon background, lamps and incense smoke","mysore_prompt":"Mysore: elegant, precise yantra layout with labeled directions, Lakṣmī centered, eight kumbhas evenly spaced, soft shading and fine lines, instructional clarity with gentle gold highlights","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature: indoor ritual pavilion, central drawn lotus-yantra on cloth, Lakṣmī icon at center, attendants placing eight kumbhas, detailed textiles and vessels, delicate incense haze, fine facial features"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: yajed = yajet (final t before voiced); nāmabhiryojayet = nāmabhiḥ + yojayet; aṣṭābhir veṣṭayet = aṣṭābhiḥ + veṣṭayet; kummair = kummāiḥ (visarga before m, orthographic variant). Several segments are editorial/variant-reading notes with letter-markers (ña, kha, cha).

FAQs

It teaches a Śrī (Lakṣmī) worship procedure: worship at the karṇikā (center) on a siṃha-seat, apply divine names in a directional sequence (Agneya to Nairṛta), and create an eightfold protective enclosure using eight mantra-empowered ritual pots (kumbhas).

Beyond myth, it preserves precise liturgical engineering—diagram/center (karṇikā), directional sequencing, mantra-accent notes, and quantified japa-based consecration—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of practical ritual technology alongside theology.

The centered worship of Śrī with directional āvaraṇa and mantra-consecrated kumbhas is intended to stabilize auspiciousness (śrī), protect the rite, and generate merit through disciplined mantra-japa and correct ritual order.
