काके भगण्डौ करटौ दुश् चर्मा शिपिविष्टकः रिष्टं क्षेमाशुभाभावेष्वरिष्टे तु शुभाशुभे

কাকের বিকৃত লক্ষণে ভগণ্ড (ভগন্দর), করট (ফোঁড়া/গাঁট), দুশ্চর্ম (দূষিত/রোগাক্রান্ত চর্ম) ও শিপিবিষ্টক—এগুলি ‘অরিষ্ট’, অর্থাৎ অমঙ্গলসূচক লক্ষণ। কিন্তু ক্ষেম (কল্যাণ) ও অশুভভাবের অভাবে অরিষ্টকে মিশ্র—শুভ ও অশুভ উভয়—বলে বুঝতে হবে।
