Tirtha: Grahaṇa-kāla snāna at Arbuda/Prabhāsa and other tīrthas (generalized)
Type: ghat
Listener: Niśānātha (Candra) and by extension the audience
Scene: During an eclipse, crowds gather at a sacred waterbody: people bathe, offer dāna to brāhmaṇas and the poor, lamps and mantras fill the air; the sky shows the darkened sun/moon.
Cosmic events like eclipses are to be met with dharmic action—purification and generosity—turning fear into śreyas (spiritual good).
Within the Candrodbheda-tīrtha māhātmya, the eclipse-time rites are associated with the tīrtha’s sanctity.
Snāna (ritual bathing) and dāna (charity), along with related observances, during the time of the eclipse.
