śrīviṣṇuruvāca | parituṣṭo'smi te vatsa varaṃ varaya suvrata | api te durlabhaṃ kāmamahaṃ dāsyāmi kṛtsnaśaḥ
Śrī Viṣṇu
Type: kshetra
Listener: A king (rājā)
Scene: Viṣṇu, radiant and four-armed, addresses a devoted king/vratin with a gesture of blessing, offering a boon; the setting suggests a sacred bank or shrine precinct associated with a Nāgara tīrtha.
Divine grace responds to steadfast vows: when the Lord is pleased, even rare boons become attainable.
The boon-dialogue unfolds within the tīrtha-māhātmya setting connected to the vāpī and the king’s tapas.
The verse does not prescribe a rite; it frames the theological moment of vara (boon) offered after tapas.
