viśvarūpo hato deva devānāṃ kāryasiddhaye | eka eva tadā brahmanpāpiṣṭho'haṃ kṛtaḥ suraiḥ
Śakra (Indra)
Listener: Brahmā
Scene: Indra confesses before Brahmā: Viśvarūpa was killed for the gods’ purpose, yet Indra alone was made to bear the worst sin; devas look uneasy, Brahmā contemplative.
Even when an act is done for a ‘greater cause,’ moral burden and accountability still arise and must be faced truthfully.
The Kedāra region frames the teaching, but the verse focuses on ethical consequence rather than a specific tīrtha.
No explicit rite is prescribed here; it is a confession of pāpa and fear of its fruits.
