Gaṇas (Śiva’s attendants)
Tirtha: Kāśī
Type: kshetra
Scene: A sequence-like tableau: father carrying the infant out (niṣkramaṇa), then feeding first solid food (annaprāśana), then the tonsure ceremony (cūḍā) with priests and gifts laid out; Kāśī courtyard with Ganga motif.
Life in dharma is sanctified through saṃskāras; the householder purifies and blesses a child’s growth through timely rites.
The text belongs to the Kāśīkhaṇḍa (Kāśī), but this verse focuses on saṃskāras rather than a particular tīrtha.
Niṣkramaṇa in the 4th month, annaprāśana at half-year, and cūḍākaraṇa (tonsure) in the appropriate year, performed with proper offerings.
