It elevates śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) as a sacred claim upon the righteous: protecting the surrendered is a hallmark of noble dharma, and decisions should be made with a purified, discerning mind rather than impulse.
Saguna Shiva is revered as the compassionate protector of devotees who surrender; this verse mirrors that Shaiva ethic—refuge, grace, and righteous acceptance—central to devotional worship of Shiva and the Linga.
Practice śaraṇāgati through daily japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” coupled with a brief contemplation (vicāra) to cultivate śuddha-buddhi before acting; this aligns conduct with Shiva-centered dharma.
