Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana discourse to the sages at Naimisharanya)
It completes the teaching on ninefold devotion by highlighting the highest inner attitudes—intimate friendship with Śiva and total self-offering—showing that liberation-oriented bhakti culminates in surrender to Pati (Śiva), the Lord of souls.
Friendship and self-surrender are inner bhāvas that mature through Saguna worship—such as Linga-pūjā, japa, and service—until the devotee feels Śiva as personally present and offers the ego and agency into Him.
Practice daily Shiva-japa (especially the Panchakshara, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with the sankalpa of ātma-arpaṇa (I offer myself to Śiva), and support it with simple Linga worship (water/abhisheka) as an outer expression of inner surrender.
