Description of the Battle between Tāraka and Kumāra
tadā nabhogatā vāṇī jagau devāṃśca sāṃtvayan | asuraṃ tārakaṃ cātra kumāro'yaṃ haniṣyati
Sūta Gosvāmin (narrating; the quoted line is an ākāśavāṇī—heavenly voice)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Cosmic Event: ākāśavāṇī (heavenly proclamation)
It highlights īśvara-anugraha (divine grace): when dharma is threatened, Shiva’s order manifests protection through a divinely appointed instrument—Kumāra—reassuring the devas and restoring cosmic balance.
The heavenly proclamation reflects Saguna Shiva’s governance of the cosmos—Shiva responds to disorder by manifesting purposeful forms and powers. Worship of the Liṅga trains the devotee to trust this protecting, world-ordering aspect of Shiva.
A practical takeaway is śaraṇāgati (surrender) supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—seeking steadiness of mind when faced with fear, as the devas were consoled by divine assurance.
