The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
bhakṣyan bhṛśasaṅkruddho harīn parvatasannibhaḥ |
babhañja vānarān sarvān saṅkruddho rākṣasottamaḥ |
The foremost of the Rakshasas, who resembled a mountain became enraged and mutilated the Vanaras.
Unrestrained anger is portrayed as morally ruinous; dharma requires inner governance, without which strength becomes brutality.
Kumbhakarṇa continues his rampage—devouring and crushing Vānaras across the battlefield.
The negative exemplar dominates: the vice of krodha (wrath) and its destructive consequences.
