Crossing the Gaṅgā; Sumantra’s Return; Adoption of Ascetic Signs
आचम्य च यथाशास्त्रं नदीं तां सह सीतया।प्राणमत्प्रीतिसंहृष्टो लक्ष्मणश्चामितप्रभः।।2.52.79।।
ācamya ca yathāśāstraṃ nadīṃ tāṃ saha sītayā | prāṇamat prītisaṃhṛṣṭo lakṣmaṇaś cāmitaprabhaḥ || 2.52.79 ||
শাস্ত্ৰবিধি অনুসাৰে আচমন কৰি, সীতাৰ সৈতে তেওঁ সেই নদীক প্ৰণাম কৰিলে; আৰু অমিতপ্ৰভ লক্ষ্মণো আনন্দিত হৈ ভক্তিভাৱে নমস্কাৰ কৰিলে।
Then Guha with folded palms said to Rama: O king, the boat ready. Tell me what else can I do for you.
Maryādā (right conduct): even in exile, the protagonists uphold śāstric discipline and reverence toward sacred nature.
Before/while crossing the Gaṅgā, the party ritually sips water and offers respectful salutations to the river.
