Adhyaya 78 — Hymn to Surya and the Distribution of Solar Splendour; Genealogy of Vaivasvata and Chaya’s Line
इति श्रीमार्कण्डेयपुराणे वैवस्वतमन्वन्तरे साप्तसप्ततितमोऽध्यायः ।
अष्टसप्ततितमोऽध्यायः— ७८
मार्कण्डेय उवाच ।
ततस्तं तुष्टुवुर्देवास्तथा देवर्षयो रविम् ।
वाग्भिरोड्यमशेषस्य त्रैलोक्यस्य समागताः ॥
iti śrī-mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇe vaivasvata-manvantare saptasaptatitamo 'dhyāyaḥ / aṣṭasaptatitamo 'dhyāyaḥ—78 / mārkaṇḍeya uvāca / tatas taṃ tuṣṭuvur devās tathā devarṣayo ravim / vāgbhir oḍyam aśeṣasya trailokyasya samāgatāḥ
এইদৰে শ্ৰীমাৰ্কণ্ডেয় পুৰাণৰ বৈৱস্বত মন্বন্তৰত সাতাত্তৰতম অধ্যায় সমাপ্ত হ’ল। এতিয়া আটাত্তৰতম অধ্যায় আৰম্ভ। মাৰ্কণ্ডেয় ক’লে—তেতিয়া সমগ্ৰ ত্ৰিলোকৰ পৰা সমবেত দেৱসকল আৰু দেৱৰ্ষিসকল বাক্-উপহাৰ (স্তোত্ৰ) লৈ ৰবি (সূৰ্য)ক স্তৱ কৰিলে।
When a destructive excess is rightly moderated, the community of beings responds with gratitude and praise; speech offered as stuti is a dharmic act aligning society with ṛta.
Manvantara: the colophon explicitly locates the narrative in Vaivasvata; the stuti also supports the Purāṇic function of reinforcing cosmic governance through praise and remembrance.
‘Offering of speech’ indicates mantra as subtle oblation: hymns stabilize the solar principle within the cosmos and within the practitioner’s inner world.
