Adhyaya 44 — Subahu’s Counsel to the King of Kashi and Alarka’s Renunciation through Yoga
इति श्रीमार्कण्डेयपुराणे अरिष्टकथनं नाम त्रिचत्वारिंशोऽध्यायः ।
चतुःचत्वारिंशोऽध्यायः ।
सुबाहुरुवाच—
यदर्थं नृपशार्दूल ! त्वामहं शरणं गतः ।
तन्मया सकलं प्राप्तं यास्यामि त्वं सुखी भव ॥
iti śrīmārkaṇḍeya-purāṇe ariṣṭa-kathanaṃ nāma tricātvāriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ |
catuḥcātvāriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ |
subāhur uvāca—
yad-arthaṃ nṛpaśārdūla tvām ahaṃ śaraṇaṃ gataḥ |
tan mayā sakalaṃ prāptaṃ yāsyāmi tvaṃ sukhī bhava ||
এইদৰে শ্ৰী মাৰ্কণ্ডেয় পুৰাণত ‘অৰিষ্ট-বৃত্তান্ত’ নামৰ তেতাল্লিশতম অধ্যায় সমাপ্ত হ’ল। এতিয়া চুয়াল্লিশতম অধ্যায় আৰম্ভ। সুভাহুৱে ক’লে—হে ৰাজশাৰ্দূল! যি উদ্দেশ্যে মই তোমাৰ শৰণলৈ আহিছিলোঁ, সেই সমগ্ৰ উদ্দেশ্য মোৰ সিদ্ধ হ’ল। মই যাম; তুমি সুখী হোৱা।

Refuge is purposeful: once the need is resolved (externally and inwardly), one should depart without clinging, offering goodwill rather than demanding reward.
