Virtue is portrayed as simultaneously self-benefiting and society-sustaining: it generates credibility and becomes a refuge for those who seek help or are suffering.
Not pancalakṣaṇa proper; it is dharma-nīti discourse embedded in an ākhyāna.
‘Trust among the great’ can be read as inner alignment with higher faculties (buddhi/sattva), by which one becomes ‘approachable’ to the divine and ancestral currents.
