The verse highlights how external brilliance—jewels, ornaments, and armour—can project authority and morale in war, yet it also reminds the listener that such splendor is bound to the perilous arena where dharma, pride, and duty collide.
Sañjaya describes the warriors’ equipment and adornments flashing with sun-like radiance, emphasizing the visual intensity of the battlefield as the armed hosts move and prepare amid the Drona Parva’s unfolding combat.
