कुलीनार्यजनोपेतं तुष्टपुष्टमनुद्धतम् । कृतमानोपचारं च यशस्वि च मनस्वि च
kulīnāryajanopetaṁ tuṣṭapuṣṭam anuddhatam | kṛtamānopacāraṁ ca yaśasvi ca manasvi ca
সঞ্জয় ক’লে—তেওঁ কুলীন আৰু আৰ্যজনসকলৰ সৈতে আছিল; তৃপ্ত আৰু পুষ্ট, তথাপি উদ্ধত নহয়। যথোচিত মান-সন্মান আৰু শিষ্টোপচাৰ লাভ কৰা; তেওঁ যশস্বী আৰু উচ্চমনস্ক।
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights an ethical ideal: true nobility is shown not merely by birth or public honor, but by inner restraint—being content and prosperous without becoming arrogant, and maintaining a high-minded character alongside fame.
Sanjaya is describing a person’s qualities in the midst of the Drona Parva war-reporting: he portrays someone attended by respectable people, honored appropriately, and marked by renown and noble resolve—an evaluative character sketch within the battlefield narration.
