FAQs

It prescribes a specific prāyaścitta: perform 100 Oṁ-japas while standing in navel-deep water, then ritually drink water as a purification act.

Alongside theology, the Agni Purana catalogs practical ritual procedures—here, a concise expiation protocol combining mantra, controlled posture/location (water-depth), and a concluding act (ācamanā-like drinking).

The verse frames Oṁ-japa coupled with water-rite as a means of pāpa-kṣaya (attenuation/removal of demerit), emphasizing purification through mantra and sacred water practice.
