Related Themes: Agni Purana 240 (साम/सान्त्व-नीति)
It teaches a practical niti principle: sāntvana (conciliation) can pacify even highly agitated or alienated persons—those harmed in dharma–kāma–artha aims, insulted, abandoned, or even turned hostile.
Beyond ritual and theology, the Agni Purana also preserves statecraft and social psychology: it catalogues specific mental and social conditions (anger, pride, humiliation, unjust rejection, enmity) and prescribes a governance tool—conciliation—to restore order.
Choosing conciliation over escalation reduces violence and hatred, supporting dharma in society; it encourages restraint and reconciliation, which are traditionally regarded as merit-bearing and harmony-producing.
