Related Themes: Agni Purana 223 (nāyaka–nāyikā behavioral taxonomy)
It imparts a kavya-śāstra lakṣaṇa (diagnostic marker) of a lover’s disposition: feigned neutrality and neglect of self-adornment even when the occasion for grooming is known.
By codifying subtle behavioral cues as formal ‘lakṣaṇas,’ it shows the Agni Purāṇa’s coverage beyond ritual into literary theory and human psychology used in Sanskrit poetics and dramaturgy.
Indirectly, it promotes self-restraint and controlled conduct (saṃyama) by portraying detachment-like behavior as a recognizable trait, encouraging regulation of desire and outward display.
