Concept: Rahasya within dharma (upaniṣat as esoteric instruction) and disciplined naming of time/space/objects

FAQs

This verse imparts kośa/nighaṇṭu-style technical vocabulary: it defines how key terms are used in specific domains—“upaniṣat” as ‘secret doctrine’ in dharma-discourse, “śarat” in seasonal reckoning, and the multiple technical senses of “pada.”

By functioning like a glossary entry, it standardizes meanings across disciplines (religion, calendrics, and material categories like vastu), showing the Agni Purāṇa’s compendium-style method of preserving specialized Sanskrit terminology.

It supports correct understanding and application of dharma by clarifying esoteric and technical terms; precision of meaning is treated as essential for right conduct, correct ritual comprehension, and accurate transmission of sacred knowledge.
