Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Dharmashastra","secondary_vidya":"Vastu","practical_application":"Provides the frame for bhū-parigraha (ritual acquisition/claiming of land) and sets the scope for consecration observances (pañca-rātra, sapta-rātra) for Viṣṇu and other deities; also alerts to manuscript variants for accurate ritual manuals.","sutra_style":false}

Concept: Ritual order (krama): land is first ritually acquired, then consecration is performed with timed observances; fidelity to textual readings safeguards practice.
Application: Before building/installing, perform bhū-parigraha and schedule pañca-rātra/sapta-rātra observances; consult reliable pāṭhas when compiling a pratiṣṭhā manual.
Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi / Pratiṣṭhā-kalpa (Icon installation and ritual procedure)
Primary Rasa: Śānta
Secondary Rasa: Adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"Hayagrīva begins teaching Brahmā; scribes compare manuscripts with variant readings; alongside, a ritual scene of marking and acquiring land for a temple, with a five-night and seven-night observance calendar motif.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural: Hayagrīva instructing Brahmā with palm-leaf manuscripts; in a lower panel, priests performing bhū-parigraha—staking boundaries, sprinkling water, placing kalaśa; decorative bands showing five and seven night symbols (lamps/moons).","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore: central teaching scene with gold haloed Hayagrīva and Brahmā; side vignette of land-ritual with boundary markers and kalaśas; gold medallions labeled five-night and seven-night observances.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore: clear didactic composition—left, manuscript collation with marginal variant marks; right, stepwise land-acquisition rite with tools, cords, and ritual pots; soft colors and precise lines.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature: scholarly atelier with manuscripts and scribes noting variants; adjacent garden/field where priests perform land-claiming ritual; night-sky border alternating five and seven moons."}
Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"instructional","suggested_raga":"Kedar","pace":"medium","voice_tone":"instructional"}
Sandhi Resolution Notes: aṣṭatriṃśodhyāyaḥ → aṣṭa-triṃśaḥ adhyāyaḥ; athonacatvāriṃśo 'dhyāyaḥ → atha ūna-catvāriṃśaḥ adhyāyaḥ; viṣṇvādīnām → viṣṇu-ādīnām; brahmaṇe 'bravīt pattern not here; śṛṇuṣva is imperative form.
Related Themes: Agni Purana 38 (pratiṣṭhā and temple merit lead-in); Agni Purana 39 (bhū-parigraha-vidhāna section continues)
It introduces the technical framework for deity installation (pratiṣṭhā) and associated land-acquisition/land-sanctification rules (bhūparigraha-vidhāna), including timed observances conducted over five or seven nights.
Beyond narrative theology, it functions like a ritual handbook: it signals a shift into procedural instructions—land rites, consecration protocols, and calendrical durations—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of applied temple practice alongside doctrine.
By prescribing properly timed and authorized consecration and land rites, the text frames temple building and icon installation as merit-generating acts that purify the site and align worship with dharma, reducing ritual fault through correct procedure.
