Related Themes: Agni Purana: Saṃskāra-vidhi sections on individual rites (garbhādhāna, puṃsavana, sīmantonnayana, jātakarman, nāmakaraṇa, annaprāśana)
It imparts Saṃskāra-vidhi in the form of an ordered list of key gṛhya (domestic) life-cycle rites from conception through early childhood: Garbhādhāna, Puṃsavana, Sīmantonnayana, Jātakarman, Nāmakaraṇa, and Annaprāśana.
By cataloging standardized dharma-ritual procedures (saṃskāras), it shows the Agni Purāṇa functioning as a compendium that preserves practical household religion alongside its many other disciplines (ritual, polity, medicine, poetics, etc.).
These saṃskāras are purificatory rites that sanctify major transitions (conception, pregnancy, birth, naming, first food), aiming to protect mother and child, align the family with dharma, and accrue merit through properly performed rites.
