FAQs

It reflects a common Purāṇic motif: tīrthas (pilgrimage sites) are presented as culturally significant landscapes whose perceived efficacy connects ethical action, ritual speech, and post-mortem destinies, illustrating how sacred geography functioned in premodern South Asian textual culture.

No specific tīrtha is named in this verse fragment; it refers generically to a tīrtha’s ‘prabhāva’ (efficacy). Identification depends on surrounding verses in Adhyāya 7.

The verse emphasizes the transformative capacity of disciplined speech and engagement with culturally recognized sacred spaces, presenting them as means toward ancestral remembrance and continuity rather than as coercive doctrine.
