FAQs

It reflects a common Purāṇic motif in which cosmic offices (such as lokapāla, “world-guardian”) are articulated through familial or pedagogical speech, linking moral categories (dharma/pāpa) with cosmological administration.

No explicit geographic location is named in this verse; the reference is cosmological (“divi,” heaven) rather than tied to a specific terrestrial site.

The verse frames moral discernment through the polarity of dharma and pāpa, presenting an ideal role as one who stands ‘in the middle’—i.e., as an arbiter or regulator aligned with cosmic order rather than personal impulse.
