Varāha

Varaha Avatara Context: {"is_varaha_focus":true,"earth_interaction":"Varāha promises viṣṇu-loka attainment (‘mama lokam’) for one who dies at that tīrtha, while praising Vasupatra as mahātīrtha."}

Bhu Devi Dialogue: {"is_dialogue":true,"speaker_role":"instructor","bhu_devi_state":"awed, contemplative about afterlife outcomes tied to place","key_question":"What is the after-death destiny for one who leaves the body at this tīrtha, and what makes Vasupatra supremely meritorious?"}

Dharma Shastra: {"has_dharma_rule":true,"topic":"shraddha","instruction_summary":"Dying (relinquishing prāṇa) at Vasupatra tīrtha leads to the Lord’s world; the site is declared supremely meritorious.","karmic_consequence":"Presence and right conduct at the tīrtha at life’s end yields viṣṇu-loka; dying elsewhere lacks this specific kṣetra-prabhāva guarantee."}

Vrata Mahatmya: {"has_vrata":false}

Cosmic Boar Symbolism: {"has_symbolism":true,"symbolic_interpretation":"The tīrtha is portrayed as a liminal portal between loka-s; Varāha as cosmic sustainer makes geography a soteriological bridge.","yajna_varaha_imagery":"Antya-kāla at tīrtha parallels ‘final oblation’: the body’s prāṇa-offering culminates in passage to the deity’s realm, echoing yajña completion leading to svarga/īśvara-loka.","vedantic_connection":"Purāṇic theism overlays mokṣa-teleology with īśvara-loka: surrender at a consecrated locus symbolizes prapatti—entrance into the Lord’s domain by grace."}

Philosophical Teaching: {"has_teaching":true,"teaching_type":"theology of grace through sacred space","core_concept":"Kṣetra-prabhāva: certain places, by divine sanction, intensify the soul’s transition and destiny.","practical_application":"Approach pilgrimage with remembrance of the Lord; if possible, spend time in such tīrthas in later life for japa, dāna, and calm preparation for death."}

FAQs

It explicitly names Vasupatra as a ‘mahātīrtha’, providing a key anchor for cataloging the text’s sacred geography and its promised outcomes (phala-śruti).

Vasupatra is the named tīrtha; the surrounding verses place it within the Mathurā-area pilgrimage landscape described in this chapter.

The verse primarily valorizes a heritage site; implicitly it encourages respectful engagement with designated sacred landscapes rather than making a coercive demand.
