नैव तस्य परोलोको नायं लोको दुरात्मनः । अथ चेत्प्रतिगृह्णाति ब्राह्मणो वृत्तिदुर्बलः । दशांशमर्जिताद्दद्यादेवं तत्र न हीयते
naiva tasya paroloko nāyaṃ loko durātmanaḥ | atha cetpratigṛhṇāti brāhmaṇo vṛttidurbalaḥ | daśāṃśamarjitāddadyādevaṃ tatra na hīyate
ذلك الخبيث القلب لا نصيب له في الآخرة ولا في الدنيا من خيرٍ حقّ. أمّا إن اضطرّ برهمنٌ ضعيف المعاش إلى قبول هبة، فليتصدّق بعُشر ما يكسب؛ فبهذا لا يلحقه في ذلك الموضع المقدّس نقصانٌ روحيّ.

Scene: At Prabhāsa, a humble brāhmaṇa with sparse belongings accepts alms only out of necessity, then offers a measured tenth into a dāna-vessel before a shrine, while a darker figure symbolizes the ‘durātmā’ who clings to gain and loses both worlds.

Improper acceptance destroys both worldly and otherworldly good; necessity may be tempered by disciplined giving.
