vālmīkiruvāca | bhavaṃto yadi tuṣṭā me yadi deyo varo mama | kathyatāṃ tarhi me śīghraṃ ko devo hyatra saṃsthitaḥ | devikāyāstaṭe ramye sarvakāmaphalapradaḥ
Vālmīki
Tirtha: Devikā-taṭa (within Prabhāsa)
Type: ghat
Listener: The assembled ṛṣis (responders)
Scene: Vālmīki, hands folded, questions a circle of sages beside a beautiful riverbank; the Devikā flows gently, with a prominent tree and a luminous presence hinted.
A ripe seeker asks not merely for pleasures, but for right knowledge of the presiding deity and the sacred power of the place.
The lovely bank of the Devikā river within the Prabhāsa-kṣetra setting.
No explicit rite is stated; the verse initiates inquiry into the site’s presiding deity, implying worship (ārādhana) to follow.
