atra kṛtvā tapo ghoraṃ kṛṣṇenāmitatejasā | prāptaṃ sudarśanaṃ cakraṃ sarvadaityāntakārakam
Īśvara (Śiva) (continuation of the same discourse)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Devī (Pārvatī)
Scene: Kṛṣṇa, radiant and austere, performs ghora tapas at a sacred spot; the Sudarśana cakra manifests as a blazing, spinning disc of light, symbolizing the end of daitya terror.
Even the greatest divine powers are portrayed as fruits of tapas, highlighting austerity as a purifier and empowerer.
The ‘here’ refers to the Ratneśvara/Ratnakuṇḍa locale within Prabhāsa Kṣetra.
No direct prescription; the verse narrates a precedent: Kṛṣṇa performed ghora-tapas at this site.
