यश्चैतच्छुणुयान्नित्यं पुराणं श्रद्धयान्वितः । अर्बुदस्य महाराज स यात्राफलमश्नुते
yaścaitacchuṇuyānnityaṃ purāṇaṃ śraddhayānvitaḥ | arbudasya mahārāja sa yātrāphalamaśnute
ومن كان ذا إيمانٍ صادق، وداوم على سماع هذا البورانا المتعلّق بأربودا، أيها الملك العظيم، نال ثواب الرحلة التعبّدية نفسها كأنه قام بالحجّ المقدّس.
Sūta (deduced: Purāṇic narration within Prabhāsa Khaṇḍa)
Tirtha: Arbuda-māhātmya (śravaṇa)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mahārāja (king)
Scene: A recitation assembly: a paurāṇika on a vyāsāsana reading Arbuda-māhātmya; listeners with folded hands; behind them a symbolic vignette of Arbuda mountain and a Śiva shrine, indicating that the story itself ‘brings’ the tīrtha to the ear.
Faithful listening to a tirtha-māhātmya can confer the same merit as physically performing the pilgrimage.
Arbuda and its pilgrimage tradition as narrated in the Arbuda Khaṇḍa of the Prabhāsa Khaṇḍa.
Śravaṇa: regularly listening to the Purāṇic account with śraddhā (faith).
