दंडस्तत्राभवद्वास्तौ गृहरोधोऽक्षदेवने । एको दोषाकरश्चंद्रः प्रियदोषाश्च कौशिकाः
daṃḍastatrābhavadvāstau gṛharodho'kṣadevane | eko doṣākaraścaṃdraḥ priyadoṣāśca kauśikāḥ
ولم تكن هناك ‘عيوب’ إلا على سبيل التلاعب بالألفاظ: فـ‘العصا’ كانت في البيت كشيءٍ لا كعقوبة؛ و‘الحبس في الدار’ لم يقع إلا في لعب النرد؛ والقمر وحده هو ‘صانع الليل’؛ والبوم هم ‘محبّو الليل’.
